traveling mercies

traveling always makes me a bit nostalgic, but for what i'm never sure. there's just something about sitting there, watching the scenery whiz past, and letting your mind wander that makes you feel a bit restless. homeless, in a way. you are stuck between two points - the place you are leaving and the place you are going.
traveling allows the perfect time and space to reflect on where you've been, who you've seen. you imagine what will happen when you reach your destination. plans, dreams, desires. you work out all the details of who you will see and what you will say.
but then again, things change. those few short hours on the road can turn you around and change your entire outlook. but that's the excitement of the road - a new outlook and a new opportunity wherever you go, if only you allow yourself to see it.
